Lake City was not always called Lake City. In
the early 1800's it was called Miles Grove. It
was named after Judge Miles who's home was
in Elk Creek. His home was also a Station on
the Underground Railroad.
Around 1832 it was also called Girard Station.
This came about when Dan Rice established Rice
Avenue to connect Lake City and Girard, so that
he could transport his Circus back and forth using
the railroad. The Station is now the All Aboard
Dinor.
In the 1800's Lake City was a hub of hustle and
activity because of the railroad, the business
and activity surrounding it.
The "All Aboard Diner" as it is know by now,
was at one time the local train station. President
Abraham Lincoln once campaigned from that
platform during his campaign for the presidency.
Lake City was Incorporated in 1926 and at the
2000 census the population was about 2,811.
